Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will assist with all accounting and daily operations of our company. These responsibilities will include all financial planning, forecasting, and reporting, analysis of our daily operations and performance. This person will also act as the liaison between our company and our external accounting partners.

Accounting and Finance Tasks

  • Full accounting cycle, A/P, A/R, collection and month end journal entries
  • Preparation of internal financial statements, trial balances and reports
  • Works closely with internal accounting clerk and external accounting firm
  • Preparation of sales tax reports, year-end audit file and all other Government reporting
  • Oversees the recording of cash receipts and bank deposits as well as follows up on overdue accounts receivable.
  • Manages foreign exchange needs using foreign exchange contracts for USD and CAD
  • Reviews and approves proposals, contracts, purchase orders and expenses
  • Manages all reporting and analysis:
    • Conducts financial analysis for client accounts – i.e. KPI, risk management variance, detailed line item analysis on an ad hoc basis
    • Calculates and reports variances from the budget and reports significant issues to management
    • Prepares, analyzes and presents monthly, quarterly and annual internal financial statements
  • Reports to management on financial position and advises on areas for improvement

Experience and Qualifications

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting related field
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience working in an SMB or startup is an asset
  • Process and project oriented
  • Experience with Simply Accounting is an asset
  • Experience in payroll software ADP is an asset
  • Knowledge of Affiliate Marketing is an asset
  • Self-starter, with a can-do attitude (entrepreneurial attitude)
